If you ever find yourself in Tanzania, just south of Arusha, near USA River around lunch time, then do yourself a favour and pop into Rivertrees for a bite to eat. If it’s a bit later in the day and its within your budget they also have a range of accommodation options.
But for now back to the lunch, arguably one of the best pizza I have tasted.
And I have tasted a few over the years as well as cooking about 100 a day while working in an Italian restaurant in Brugge. The restaurant shall remain nameless to protect the innocent owners however it is probably a good time to send out a heartfelt apology to anyone who ate a pizza, in an Italian restaurant, in Brugge in the summer of 1991.
Really, I am sorry.

Christoph however produced a perfectly cooked pizza from his wood fired oven and although not normally one for photographing one’s food I felt compelled too on this occasion. Just the right amount of toppings, generous with the cheese and a perfectly cooked base. Nothing like mine.

If pizza isn’t your thing they have a daily salad buffet with mini quiche and a variety of different salads for you to choose.

However, for those truckers or Kiwi/Aussie blokes amongst us that are seemingly allergic to salads and don’t know what quiche is? Then there is a full menu available.
In saying that with their supply of salad and herbs coming from their own garden its always fresh, so give it a go fella’s.

The cottages are scattered around the perimeter of the property nestled amongst the trees, with some running along the edge of the river. There a several options including renting out an entire cottage, perfect for larger groups. Admittedly it’s probably not in everyone’s budget, but it would be a perfect spot for a special occasion.
Check out their website for full details at rivertrees.com
And again, sorry for anyone who tried my pizza in Brugge.
